TechTip: What is the easiest way to locate a lost file on my computer?

Click Start, point to Search, and then click For File or Folders.  (a Search Results dialog box will appear)  In Search for files or folders named, type the file name or folder name you want to find in containing text.

 

To specify additional search criteria, click Search Options, and then click one or more of the following options to narrow your search:

*Select Date to look for files created or modified on or between specific dates.

*Select Type to look for files of a specific type such as text or a Microsoft Word Document (.doc).

*Select Size to look for files of a specific size.

*Select Advanced Options to specify additional search criteria.

 

Then click Search Now.

 

Does my PC have a virus?

Symptoms include: PC begins operating slower than normal, pop-up windows appear stating you should scan for a virus or follow a link to clean your PC, applications or pop up windows open on their own, you notice words being typed in an email or instant message you yourself are not creating.

If you notice any of these symptoms or something similar, turn off your computer immediately and contact us for assistance. Less damage will be done if you leave the computer off until it can be repaired.
